Description

We back founders before it's obvious.

Star Harbor Ventures leads pre-seed and seed rounds, then stays aboard through the weather that follows. Most capital arrives once the outcome is already visible. We would rather be early, be useful, and be honest about what we don't yet know.

Conviction over consensus. We lead rounds other funds pass on because the category doesn't exist yet. One partner, one decision, no committee theater.

A real answer, quickly. Two weeks from first conversation to term sheet or a clear no — with the reasoning attached either way. Your time is the scarcest thing you have.

Aboard for the weather. Hiring, pricing, the second product, the hard board meeting. We reserve heavily for follow-on and answer the phone at 11pm.

Our process: fourteen days, four conversations.

72 hours to your first call · 14 days to an answer · $2M max first check

Eligibility

Stage: pre-seed and seed, where they lead

Sectors: Applied AI, Climate Hardware, Developer Tools, Fintech Infrastructure, Health Systems, Logistics, Robotics, Security, Space, Materials, Energy

Access: no warm intro required — every application is read by a partner

Process

Fourteen days, four touchpoints, no committee.

  • Day 0 — One form, five minutes. A partner reads it, not a screener.
  • Day 1–3 — First call, 30 minutes. "On the problem, not the projections." (Their stat says 72h to first call.)
  • Day 4–10 — Working session. They dig in with you and talk to two or three of your customers.
  • Day 14 — Term sheet, or a clear no with the reasoning attached.

What an Applicant can Obtain

A lead investor — up to a $2M first check

A decision in 14 days, and on a no, the reasoning in writing. That's the part most funds don't give.

Partner-level attention throughout, not an associate screen

Heavy follow-on reserves — they explicitly reserve for the next rounds

Operating help on the hard stuff: hiring, pricing, the second product, the difficult board meeting. "We answer the phone at 11pm."

Confidentiality: "Nothing you send leaves the partnership."
