Description

The Global Development Incubator (GDI) is a Washington, D.C.–based nonprofit incubator and venture builder committed to building and scaling transformational social impact ventures that solve complex global challenges. It partners with innovators, funders, and public-sector actors to help design, launch, and accelerate initiatives tackling issues such as economic opportunity, inclusive societies, climate resilience, health systems, and more. GDI engages in multiyear incubation cycles — co-developing organizational strategy, operations, and partnerships for high-impact ventures.

Eligibility

Mission-aligned ventures or coalitions aiming to address global or systems-level challenges.
• Initiatives with potential for scalable impact and sustainable implementation with multi-stakeholder engagement.
• Organizations or founders ready to engage in longer-term incubation and systems building

Process

Vetting & Selection: GDI identifies impactful ideas or partners for incubation based on potential for systemic change and feasibility. 

Discovery & Design: Work with stakeholders to refine models, define goals, and plan structures for new initiatives. 

Build & Support: GDI provides strategic, operational, and implementation support to early stage or scaling ventures over 12–36 months. 

Exit & Scale: Initiatives transition to independent operation or embed within partner ecosystems when ready for scale.

Fiscal sponsorship (via GDI Solutions) enabling initiatives to receive funds under 501(c)(3) status.
Multiyear venture building support from initial concept to scale/exit.
Implementation and operational guidance in areas like governance, finance, and impact measurement.
