Description
Vermont Center for Emerging Technologies (VCET) is a nonprofit incubator and early-stage investor based in Burlington, VT, that supports entrepreneurs with business mentoring, coworking space, expert networks, and access to early venture capital through its VCET-managed funds. VCET helps founders refine business models, access capital, and grow tech-enabled companies, especially those poised to scale in Vermont and beyond.
Eligibility
• Tech-enabled and scalable startups (software, biotech, hardware, energy, data, etc.).
• Companies with some evidence of market opportunity or traction — not limited to revenue but demonstrated potential.
• Vermont-based teams and operations are prioritized for direct VCET capital investment, though advisory and coworking support is broadly available.
Process
Initial Engagement: Founders connect with VCET via advisory requests, coworking membership, or introduction to capital through VCET’s network.
Mentoring & Advising: VCET provides 1:1 business coaching, mentorship, and ecosystem connections to help founders develop traction.
Capital Consideration: For suitable startups, VCET evaluates them for investment via its evergreen funds, reviewing team, product, timing, and terms.
Due Diligence & Terms: If there’s mutual interest, VCET proceeds with due diligence and investment structuring on negotiated terms.
