Description

MCVC Partners (formerly known as Michigan Capital Network) is a member-led investment organization headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan. As of 2026, it is the most active private investment network in the state of Michigan, managing several regional angel groups and a dedicated venture capital fund. 
  • Seed & Series A: This is the primary investment window.
  • Gap Funding: They specialize in providing the bridge capital necessary to take a company from initial product validation to a larger institutional Series B round. 
  • Method: Founders apply through the MCVC Partners portal, which utilizes the Dealum platform.
  • Network Structure: A single application allows a startup to be considered by four regional angel chapters: Grand Angels (Grand Rapids), Ka-Zoo Angels (Kalamazoo), Woodward Angels (Detroit), and Flint Angels (Flint).
  • Materials: A professional pitch deck, executive summary, and 3-year financial projections are required.
  • Monthly Cycle: MCVC reviews deals and holds pitch sessions on a monthly basis throughout 2026 (typically excluding July and December)

Eligibility

  • Geography: Strong priority for companies based in Michigan and the Great Lakes Region.
  • Sectors: Industry-agnostic, with heavy concentration in Life Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing, B2B SaaS, and AgTech.
  • Traction: Preference for companies with a functional Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and early customer validation or pilot revenue. 

Process

  1. Staff Screening: The professional investment team reviews applications for geographic and sector fit.
  2. Screening Committee: Selected startups present to a committee of experienced members for technical and market vetting.
  3. The "Roadshow": Top-tier finalists are invited to pitch at monthly dinner meetings across the various Michigan chapters.
  4. Due Diligence: Interested members form a deal team to conduct a 4–8 week deep-dive review.
  5. Syndication: Investments are often aggregated through the MCN Venture Fund alongside individual member commitments.
