Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic (K4-MA) is the regional chapter of the world's largest angel investor network, connecting accredited investors with early-stage companies. The Philadelphia chapter serves as the operational hub for the region, which also includes chapters in DC, Pittsburgh, North Jersey, and New York. 
  • Seed & Series A/B: K4-MA typically invests in companies seeking $750,000 to $5 million in funding, usually with some initial friends and family investment already in place.
  • Maturity: They look for companies with justified valuations and a business model ready for significant scale. 
  • Method: Entrepreneurs apply online via the Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic DealRoom website.
  • Materials: A comprehensive business plan and pitch deck are required. Note that initial proposals do not require an NDA, as all members operate within a shared ethical framework.
  • Fees: There is an entrepreneur administrative fee to cover the costs of the screening and review process.

Pitch Competition and Deadline (2026)

  • Monthly Cycle: Forum meetings are held on the third Wednesday of every month.
  • 2026 Key Events:
    • Monthly Screening: Takes place online on the first Wednesday of each month.
    • Mid-Atlantic Investor Summit: A major regional event is scheduled for October 21-22, 2026, at Drexel University in Philadelphia.
  • Rolling Intake: Applications are accepted year-round, with submissions vetted monthly. 

Eligibility

  • Geography: Primarily Mid-Atlantic region (PA, DC, MD, NJ, NY, DE).
  • Sectors: Industry-agnostic, with significant activity in Technology, Life Sciences/Health Care, Real Estate, Consumer Products, and Social Ventures.
  • Investment Vehicle: Companies are expected to raise via Preferred Equity or a post-money SAFE.

Process

The process emphasizes rigorous pre-screening and peer-to-peer due diligence: 

  1. Online Application: Founders submit their details through the online portal.
  2. Pre-Screening: Committees of industry specialists vet applications, selecting 8-12 companies for the monthly screening meeting.
  3. Deal Screening: Selected companies present for 12 minutes with an 8-minute Q&A session. Feedback is provided, and the best 3-5 are invited to the main Forum Meeting.
  4. Forum Meeting: Finalists present to the full network of investors. Members then indicate interest on a "Gold Sheet".
  5. Due Diligence (DD): Interested members form a collaborative DD team. The process typically takes 4-8 weeks, focusing on financials, IP, and market viability. A Keiretsu term sheet is often used during this phase.
  6. Investment: Members make individual investment decisions, with rounds typically ranging from $1 million to $15 million.
