Description

Women's Capital Connection (WCC) is a regional network of accredited angel investors in the Kansas City area dedicated to funding high-potential, women-led businesses. WCC is an alliance partner of OneKC for Women and aims to facilitate access to early-stage equity capital and provide strategic support.
  • Seed Stage: WCC primarily focuses on seed-stage investments in early-stage technology companies.
  • Growth Potential: They look for companies that can reach $10M–$20M in 3–5 years and have a clear exit strategy.
  • Method: Entrepreneurs interested in funding should contact Kelly Sievers, the Managing Director, via phone or email to set up an initial consultation.
  • No NDA: Neither WCC nor its members sign non-disclosure or confidentiality agreements for initial proposals.
  • Consultation: They offer free consultations to assess a founder's readiness for raising equity capital.

Eligibility

  • Founder Profile: Companies should have a woman CEO or a woman in a C-level position with significant equity.
  • Business Model: Must address an unmet need, have market traction, and demonstrate high growth potential.
  • Investor Criteria: All investors in the network are accredited investors.

Process

  1. Initial Review: A pre-screening team reviews the initial proposal.
  2. Screening Committee: Based on the initial review, the entrepreneur may be invited to make a 15-minute presentation to the Screening Committee, followed by a Q&A.
  3. Member Meeting: If approved by the committee, the entrepreneur presents to the full WCC membership at a subsequent meeting.
  4. Due Diligence: If sufficient interest is generated, a due diligence process is initiated.
  5. Investment & Closing: Interested members invest individually in the company using "standard" financing terms, often through convertible notes or preferred stock.
