Description

Golden Angels Investors is a prominent, member-led angel investment network headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Founded in 2002, it is one of the most active angel groups in the Midwest, composed of over 100 accredited investors—primarily former CEOs and successful entrepreneurs—who provide "smart capital" to high-growth startups.
  • Seed & Series A: This is the firm’s primary investment window.
  • Post-Revenue Preference: While they occasionally invest in pre-revenue ventures (particularly in Life Sciences), they strongly prefer companies with a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and early customer validation or pilot revenue.
  • Method: Founders apply through the Golden Angels Investors portal, which is hosted on the Dealum platform.
  • Materials: A professional pitch deck, executive summary, and 3-year financial projections are required.
  • Sector Focus: For 2026, the group is prioritizing HealthTech, B2B SaaS, and Advanced Manufacturing/IoT.

Eligibility

  • Geography: Strong preference for companies based in Wisconsin and the Midwest, though they will consider deals from across the U.S. if there is a strong member connection.
  • Sector: Industry-agnostic, with significant historical activity in Healthcare/Medical Devices, Software, and Tech-Enabled Services.
  • Capital Seek: Typically targets companies raising between $500,000 and $2,000,000.

Process

  1. Online Intake: Founders submit materials through Dealum for initial screening by the leadership team to assess eligibility and scalability.
  2. Screening Committee: Selected startups participate in a virtual preliminary pitch to a committee of experienced members for a deep-dive evaluation.
  3. Member Presentation: The top 2–3 finalists are invited to pitch to the full network of 100+ accredited investors during monthly meetings.
  4. Due Diligence: Interested members form a collaborative team to conduct a 4–8 week rigorous review of financials, IP, and legal status.
  5. Closing: Individual members make independent decisions to commit capital, which is typically aggregated for the cap table.

What an Applicant can Obtain

  1. Direct Capital: Access to funding from a network that has invested over $100 million in more than 100 companies.
  2. Strategic Mentorship: Direct coaching from members who have experience managing large-scale global organizations.
  3. Network Access: Introductions to potential customers, strategic partners, and follow-on venture capital firms.
  4. Syndication: Strong ties to other Midwest groups (like Hyde Park Angels or Nebraska Angels) to fill larger rounds.
