Description

Foresight Canada is the country's largest cleantech innovation and adoption accelerator, focused on driving the growth of clean technology to help Canada reach net-zero targets. 

  • Stage Agnostic: Programs cater to ventures at all stages—Ideation, Commercialization, and Scale.
  • Investor Readiness: Specialized tracks like Investor Readiness and Access to Capital target startups preparing for their next pre-seed, seed, or Series A+ dilutive raise. 
  • Ongoing Intake: Applications are accepted on a continuous basis for core programs.
  • Method: Founders apply via digital forms on the official Foresight website, detailing their technology, value proposition, and leadership team.
  • Startup Visa: International ventures can apply for the Startup Visa program to launch and scale cleantech ventures in Canada.

Eligibility

  • Canadian Incorporation: Ventures must be federally or provincially incorporated in Canada (or in the process of doing so).
  • NRC IRAP Client: Most programs require ventures to be clients of the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP) and receive an endorsement from an Industrial Technology Advisor (ITA).
  • Sectors: Open to all cleantech industries, including Agriculture, Clean Power, Carbon Management, Mining, Transportation, and Water. 

Process

  1. Selection & Intake: After submitting an application, a team member schedules an introduction call to determine the best program fit.
  2. Accelerator Tracks:
    • Kickstart: For early-stage ideation (3 months).
    • Launch & Deliver: For market entry and commercialization (4 months).
    • Grow: Ongoing scaling support including fractional executive support (CXO peer mentorship) and 1:1 coaching.
  3. Industry Matchmaking: Connects innovators with buyers through over 60 problem-driven Innovation Challenges.
  4. Pitch & Showcase: Culminates in high-impact events like the Foresight 50, which spotlights Canada's most investible cleantech companies. 

What an Applicant can Obtain

  • Strategic Support: Access to Executives-in-Residence (EiR) for tailored 1:1 guidance.
  • Market Insights: Data and research to identify industrial pain points and competitive opportunities.
  • Adoption Pathways: Direct connections to industry "giants" looking to de-risk and adopt new technologies.
  • Capital Support: Preparation for raises and direct matchmaking with investor firms.
