Fontinalis means “of a spring or fountain.” Our startups aspire to bring more flow to the world.

Detroit, MI, USA

Description

Fontinalis Partners is a specialized venture capital firm headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, with an office in Boston. Founded in 2009 by a team including Bill Ford (Executive Chairman of Ford Motor Company), the firm is dedicated exclusively to investing in next-generation mobility and the technologies that enable the movement of people and goods.

  • Seed to Series B: Fontinalis is primarily an early-stage investor but has the capacity to participate across a company’s entire lifecycle.
  • Stage Agnostic within Vertical: They invest in everything from "napkin-stage" startups to growth-stage companies, provided they fit the mobility thesis.

Fontinalis operates as a traditional, thesis-driven institutional venture fund.

  • Method: Founders typically engage through warm introductions or by submitting materials via the Fontinalis contact portal.
  • Thesis-Driven: They do not use a batch-based application. They seek companies that address specific "mobility themes" such as autonomy, logistics, and sustainable infrastructure.

Eligibility

  • Sectors: Autonomous Vehicles, Supply Chain & Logistics, Robotics, Electric Vehicle (EV) Infrastructure, and Urban Mobility.
  • Geography: Global. While headquartered in the U.S., they have an active portfolio spanning North America and Europe.
