The group facilitates investments from over 100 accredited investors into high-growth, early-stage companies.
  • Seed & Series A: The group primarily focuses on early-stage ventures.
  • Stage Versatility: While specializing in seed and Series A, the network has also participated in pre-seed and occasionally Series B and C rounds.
  • Commercial Readiness: Preference is given to businesses with a well-defined product or service and a clear go-to-market plan offering fair ROI potential.
  • Method: Founders typically apply through an online platform, such as GUST or Dealum, commonly used by angel networks for deal flow management.
  • Materials: Submissions require a detailed business plan, pitch deck, and financial projections.
  • Review Process: Applications are evaluated using data-driven screening tools and reviewed by a selection committee to determine fit with the group's investment thesis.

Eligibility

  • Sectors: Broadly industry-agnostic, with a strong focus on Life Sciences, SaaS, Tech, Devices/Supplies, and Drug Delivery.
  • Geography: Primarily targets the Southwest U.S. (Arizona), but considers startups across the United States and Canada.
  • Structure: Must be a scalable, high-growth-potential company.

Process

  1. Screening: Decks are evaluated for clarity, validation, and execution potential.
  2. Dinner Meetings: Selected companies are invited to present their business ideas at regular dinner meetings where investors gather to hear pitches.
  3. Individual Interest: After presentations, individual members decide whether to pursue a deal independently.
  4. Due Diligence: If sufficient interest is generated, a collaborative due diligence process is initiated to verify business claims.
  5. Sidecar Fund: Deals that meet specific group criteria may receive additional matching capital from the Desert Angels Sidecar fund
