Dartmouth Angels

Dartmouth Angels connects Dartmouth-affiliated startups with early-stage funding and mentorship.

Description

Dartmouth Angels is an affinity-based angel investment network composed of Dartmouth College alumni, faculty, and parents. It is a member-led organization that provides capital and mentorship to early-stage startups founded by or associated with members of the Dartmouth community.

  • Seed & Series A: This is the primary window for investment.
  • Post-Concept: They prioritize companies that have moved past the pure "idea" phase and possess a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) with early market validation.
  • Method: Founders apply through the Dartmouth Angels application portal, typically hosted on the Dealum platform.
  • Affiliation Requirement: To be eligible, at least one member of the founding or executive team must be a Dartmouth alumnus, student, parent, or faculty member.
  • Materials: A standard submission requires a pitch deck, an executive summary, and detailed 3-year financial projections.
  • Rolling Basis: Applications are accepted and reviewed year-round.
  • 2026 Cycles: Pitch sessions are typically held in February, May, September, and November.
  • Current Window: To be considered for the Spring 2026 cycle, founders are encouraged to apply by mid-January 2026.

Eligibility

  • Sector: Industry-agnostic, with significant historical activity in SaaS, HealthTech, MedTech, Consumer Goods, and Fintech.
  • Geography: Global reach; the network invests in Dartmouth-affiliated startups regardless of where the company is headquartered.
  • Scalability: The venture must demonstrate a clear path to high-growth and a potential liquidity event (exit) within 5–7 years.

Process

  1. Online Intake: Founders submit materials through the digital portal for an initial screening by the network's management team to verify affiliation and scalability.
  2. Screening Committee: Selected applicants participate in a virtual preliminary pitch to a smaller committee of experienced investors for a deep-dive evaluation.
  3. Member Pitch: The top 3–4 finalists are invited to pitch to the full network of 100+ accredited investors during quarterly pitch events.
  4. Due Diligence: Interested members form a collaborative team to conduct a 4–8 week investigation into the company's financials, legal standing, and technology.
  5. Closing: Individual members make independent decisions to commit capital, which is aggregated for the company's cap table.

What an Applicant can Obtain

  1. Strategic Capital: Access to funding from an elite network of high-net-worth alumni and seasoned business leaders.
