Description

Conauton Accelerator (officially Conquer Accelerator) is a high-intensity startup program based in East Lansing, Michigan. Managed by Michigan State University (MSU), it is designed to help both student-led and external startups overcome the hurdles of early-stage growth and move toward commercialization. 

  • Seed & Pre-Seed: The program targets companies that have a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and are seeking to validate their business model.
  • Target: It is designed for startups that are ready to scale and are preparing for their first significant outside investment.
  • Method: Founders apply through the Conquer Accelerator application portal, typically hosted on the F6S platform.
  • Focus: They seek scalable, technology-enabled companies with a dedicated team.
  • Tracks: The program offers two distinct tracks: the Summer Cohort (standard 10-week program) and the Conquer Accelerator Studio (specifically for early-stage student ventures). 

Eligibility

  • Geography: While open to all, there is a strong emphasis on companies based in Michigan or those willing to relocate to East Lansing for the duration of the program.
  • Sector: Industry-agnostic, with strong representation in SaaS, AgTech, HealthTech, and Consumer Products.
  • Team: Must have at least one full-time founder committed to the 10-week program. 

Process

The program is a 10-week intensive summer residency: 
  1. Selection: A competitive review process including interviews with the program directors and mentors.
  2. Mentorship: Each startup is matched with a lead mentor and has access to a network of 40+ industry experts.
  3. Curriculum: Weekly workshops focusing on financial modeling, intellectual property, sales strategy, and investor relations.
  4. Demo Day: The program concludes with a high-profile pitch event attended by regional VCs and angel investors. 

What an Applicant can Obtain

  1. Investment: A direct equity investment to support early operations.
  2. Infrastructure: Access to co-working space and specialized MSU research facilities.
  3. Strategic Support: Hands-on assistance from MSU interns (law, MBA, and engineering students) to help with specific project tasks.
  4. Network: Membership in a lifelong alumni network of successful Michigan-based entrepreneurs.
