ChileGlobal Angels

Chile-based angel network connecting high-potential tech startups with global investors.

Santiago, Santiago Metropolitan Region, Chile

Description

ChileGlobal Angels is the leading angel investor network in Chile, founded in 2007 by Fundación Chile. It connects early-stage, high-growth startups with a network of experienced accredited investors to foster the Chilean and Latin American entrepreneurial ecosystem.
  • Seed & Early-Stage: Targets startups that have progressed beyond the ideation phase.
  • Traction Required: Startups must have a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and, ideally, initial sales or validated pilot programs. They focus on companies ready for national or international scaling.
  • Method: Founders apply through the ChileGlobal Angels application portal.
  • Materials: A pitch deck (in Spanish or English), an executive summary, and a clear description of the problem, solution, and business model.
  • Focus: They seek companies with high scalability and a defensible competitive advantage (e.g., unique technology or IP).

Eligibility

  • Sectors: Industry-agnostic, with a strong preference for Fintech, Agtech, EdTech, HealthTech, and SaaS.
  • Geography: Primarily targets startups based in Chile, but they are open to Latin American startups with a clear plan to enter the Chilean market or scale from it.
  • Exit Potential: Must demonstrate the potential for a significant exit (acquisition or IPO) within 5–7 years.

Process

  1. Selection: A technical team reviews applications to filter for those meeting the investment thesis.
  2. Screening Committee: Selected startups pitch to a screening committee of experienced investors for a preliminary deep dive.
  3. Investment Forum: The top companies are invited to pitch at periodic Investment Forums to the full network of 30+ members.
  4. Due Diligence: If members express interest, a due diligence process (4–8 weeks) is conducted to verify financials, legal status, and technology.
  5. Investment: Members make independent decisions to commit capital, often facilitated through a syndicated structure.

What an Applicant can Obtain

  1. Smart Capital: Funding from investors who provide not just money, but active strategic advice and board participation.
  2. Global Network: Access to Fundación Chile’s extensive network of international partners and corporate sponsors.
  3. Soft Landing Support: Assistance for international startups looking to establish operations in the Chilean market.
  4. Validation: The "ChileGlobal" brand provides significant credibility for subsequent institutional VC rounds.
