Charleston Angel Partners (CAP) is a member-driven angel investment group based in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, focused on providing capital, mentorship, and rigorous due diligence to early-stage companies in the Southeast region. 
  • Seed & Series A: CAP primarily targets high-growth startups seeking seed or Series A capital.
  • Traction Required: They look for companies with innovative solutions, scalable business models, and high-performing founders who demonstrate product-market fit with emphasis on environmental and social impact alongside financial return.
  • Method: Founders can apply through the Charleston Angel Partners application portal, hosted on the Dealum platform.
  • Materials: Applicants must upload key documents, including an Executive Summary, Balance Sheet, and a pitch deck outlining the business model, team, financials, and exit strategy.
  • Criteria: The firm seeks companies typically raising between $250,000 and $2,000,000 in total funding.

Eligibility

  • Geography: Primarily focuses on companies within Charleston and the Southeast region.
  • Sectors: Industry-agnostic, with portfolio investments in Life Sciences, Technology, Enterprise Software, HealthTech, AI/ML, and Energy.
  • Company Profile: Must be a growth-oriented, for-profit entity with a credible path to exit within 3–7 years. 

Process

CAP utilizes a structured, member-driven evaluation process: 

  1. Online Submission: Founders complete the application via the online portal.
  2. Screening: A committee reviews applications; those selected are contacted for an initial phone call or meeting to assess viability.
  3. Member Pitch: Selected founders present to the full membership (60+ investors) in a 15-minute pitch followed by a Q&A.
  4. Due Diligence: If members are interested, a team conducts a deep-dive analysis of the company's financials, IP, market, and team before making individual investment decisions.
