Description

Broad Street Angels (BSA) is an affinity-based angel investment group composed of alumni from Drexel University, though they invest in entrepreneurs regardless of university affiliation. It is a member-led organization within the Union League of Philadelphia. 
  • Early Stage & Seed: BSA focuses on companies that have a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and early customer validation or pilot revenue.
  • Expansion: They target companies seeking $500,000 to $2,000,000 in total funding to scale their operations.
  • Method: Founders apply through the official Broad Street Angels application portal (hosted on the Dealum platform).
  • Materials Required: A pitch deck, an executive summary, and a detailed "Use of Funds" plan.
  • Screening Criteria: They prioritize "high-growth" potential ventures with a clear path to a liquidity event within 5–7 years. 
  • 2026 Deadlines: To be considered for a specific month’s meeting, founders should apply at least four weeks in advance.

Eligibility

  • Geography: Primarily targets companies in the Mid-Atlantic region (PA, NJ, DE, MD, NY).
  • Sector: Industry-agnostic, with heavy historical activity in SaaS, MedTech, Consumer Products, and Advanced Manufacturing.
  • Founder Profile: Strong preference for experienced management teams with a deep understanding of their market. 

Process

  1. Online Submission: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
  2. Screening Committee: A group of members reviews submissions to select 3–4 companies to pitch at a monthly screening meeting.
  3. Member Meeting: Finalists pitch to the full membership (approximately 100+ accredited investors) during monthly dinner meetings.
  4. Due Diligence: If interest is high, a due diligence team is formed to verify financials, legal standing, and product claims.
  5. Investment: Individual members make independent decisions to commit capital, often aggregated into a single LLC.
