Minneapolis, MN, USA

Description

Beta.MN (also known simply as BETA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves as an early-stage accelerator for technology-based startups in Minnesota. It focuses on providing founders with the training, mentorship, and relationships needed to scale their businesses. It is designed for founders who are beyond the "idea stage" and have a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) but are still early in their journey (e.g., preparing for their first institutional raise)
  • Accelerator Program: The core offering is the BETA Cohort, a 3- to 4-month structured program.
  • Application: Founders apply online through the official BETA portal.

Eligibility

  • Geography: Startups must be Minnesota-based.
  • Product: Companies must have a scalable, technology-enabled product or service.
  • Readiness: Applicants must have a functional MVP past the pure "idea stage".

Process

  • Structure: Selected teams participate in weekly educational sessions (typically Wednesdays for 4–6 hours), workshops, and networking events.
  • Outcome: The program culminates in the BETA Showcase, a "science fair for startups" where founders demo their products to hundreds of enthusiasts, investors, and media.

What an Applicant can Obtain

  • Non-Dilutive Support: Access to a free, high-intensity training program.
  • Network: Direct introductions to mentors, corporate partners (via the "Bridge" program), and a community of fellow founders.
  • Capital Access: While BETA does not invest directly, it connects founders with a national network of funding relationships through its Backers program.
