Description

Beacon Angels is a Boston-based angel investor group that meets monthly to invest in early-stage companies located in the northeastern United States. It focuses on ventures that have progressed beyond the concept phase and have a functional Minimum Viable Product (MVP) or early customer validation. 
  • Method: Founders must apply through the Beacon Angels application portal (hosted on the ProSeeder platform).
  • Requirements: A complete submission requires a pitch deck, an executive summary, and a detailed business plan.
  • Focus: It prioritizes companies with high barriers to entry (IP/Patents) and a clear, scalable path to an exit within 3–7 years. 


Eligibility

  • Geography: Primarily targets companies based in New England (MA, RI, CT, NH, VT, ME) and the Mid-Atlantic (NY, NJ, PA).
  • Sector: Industry-agnostic, with strong historical activity in SaaS, MedTech, Consumer Products, and Industrial Technology.
  • Financials: Typically looks for companies seeking a total round size of $500,000 to $2 million

Process

  1. Online Submission: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
  2. Screening Committee: Approximately 40% of applicants are selected for an initial screening call or meeting.
  3. Member Presentation: The top two or three companies are invited to pitch to the full membership at monthly meetings (typically held the second Tuesday of each month).
  4. Due Diligence: If members express interest, a due diligence team is formed to conduct a deep-dive review over 4–6 weeks.
  5. Investment: Individual members make independent decisions to commit capital.

What an Applicant can Obtain

  • Capital: Funding from a network of experienced accredited investors.
  • Mentorship: Direct access to members who often serve as board observers or strategic advisors.
  • Syndication: Beacon Angels frequently syndicates with other regional groups (like Boston Harbor Angels or Angel Investor Forum) to fill larger rounds.
