Description

Alamo Angels is an angel investor network based in San Antonio, Texas, that supports early-stage, high-growth startups through capital, education, and mentorship. In 2025, the organization spun out from its former partner VelocityTX to operate independently and partnered with VentureSTX, a new investment platform that manages the group's execution and Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). 
  • Entrepreneur Submission: Founders submit their company details, pitch deck, and traction metrics through an online portal.
  • Rolling Basis: Applications are accepted year-round, typically with a deadline on the third Monday of each month for that cycle's review.
  • Deadlines: Applications are due by the third Monday of every month for consideration in the next pitch cycle. 

Eligibility

  • Sectors: Industry-agnostic but often focuses on FinTech, Enterprise Applications, Software, and Life Sciences.
  • Geography: Strong focus on South Texas (San Antonio and Rio Grande Valley), though they attract deals from across the U.S..
  • Startup Characteristics: Must have high barriers to entry (e.g., IP), demonstrated traction, a scalable model for large markets, and a clear exit strategy reachable in 3–7 years.
  • Entity Type: Prefers established legal entities, ideally not LLCs (e.g., C-corps). 

Process

  1. Selection: 2–3 applicants are selected monthly for review.
  2. Coaching: Chosen companies receive pitch coaching from professional staff.
  3. Pitch Event: Founders have 7 minutes to pitch followed by 7 minutes of Q&A at a monthly event.
  4. Deep Dive: A one-hour session for investors to ask detailed questions.
  5. Due Diligence: Interested investors examine the team, product, and financials.
  6. Terms & Funding: Finalizing term sheets (equity, notes, or SAFEs) and executing documents to wire funds.

  • Capital: Access to a network of 140+ accredited investors.
  • Syndicate Access: The Alamo Angels Investment Syndicate pools resources for larger deals, targeting $2 million annually for 5–10 investments.
  • Resources: Pitch coaching, business development tools, and access to a network of C-level executives and industry leaders.
