Description

AI Fund is a venture studio founded by Andrew Ng (co-founder of Coursera and Google Brain) that focuses on building and launching new Artificial Intelligence companies from the ground up. Unlike a traditional VC, you do not just "pitch for a check." You apply to become a Founder-in-Residence (FIR) or to build a specific AI concept.

  • Required Info: They look for "0-to-1" builders with deep technical or domain expertise. You can apply with a specific AI idea or as a talented individual looking for a problem to solve.

Eligibility

  • Sectors: High-impact AI applications in Healthcare, Education, Enterprise SaaS, Logistics, and Asset Management.
  • Founder Profile: They prioritize "domain experts" (e.g., a doctor with an AI idea) or "technical masters" (e.g., elite AI researchers).
  • Geography: Global, though many portfolio companies are based in the United States (Silicon Valley) and Latin America.

Process

  1. Exploration: Initial discussions to identify if the founder's expertise aligns with AI Fund’s thesis.
  2. Validation: A 3–6 month period where the founder and the AI Fund team work together to validate the market, technical feasibility, and business model.
  3. Governance/Investment: If the idea is validated, a new company is legally formed, and AI Fund provides the initial "pre-seed" capital.
  4. Scaling: The studio provides HR, recruiting, and technical resources to help the founder hire their first employees.
